Newly expanded website for The Black ISC Student Experience to 1950 project
The Digital Scholarship and Initiatives Department is pleased to share a newly updated and expanded project website for the Tracing Race at ISU initiative project: The Black ISC Student Experience to 1950. The project, formerly titled Mapping the Black ISC Student Housing Experience to 1940, is led by Dr. Gloria Betcher and was one of the first projects selected for Tracing Race at ISU in 2021. The expanded project now includes biographies and photographs of more than 100 Black students who attended Iowa State College from its founding until 1950 including their majors, places of residence, student organization participation, and links to their theses and dissertations (if available). The new site is easier to navigate and search and will continue to grow as more students are identified. Anyone interested in contributing to this project should use the Contact Us page on the project website.
For more information, visit the Tracing Race at ISU initiative website, or contact Erin Ridnour, the project lead.
