Monday Monologues returns for fall

Monday Monologues, a lunchtime performance series hosted by the University Library, spotlights Iowa State student and faculty voices, and members of the Iowa State community. This fall, Monday Monologues present a variety of offerings from the ISU Music and Theatre Department. 

Sept. 29 | 12:15 p.m., Grant Wood Mural Lobby (north of Bookends Café) 
Julius Caesar 
By William Shakespeare, Adapted by Brad Dell 
Presented by ISU Theatre, this is a reimagined adaptation of Shakespeare’s political tragedy explores ambition, loyalty, and betrayal in the struggle for power. ISU Theatre presents a fresh take on the classic work against the backdrop of the Grant Wood Mural Lobby.

Students and the community are invited to experience the full production of Julius Caesar on Thursday, October 3 and Friday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Fisher Theater. 

October 20 | 12:15 p.m. Hautbois Quatre 

The double reed quartet will perform arrangements of Second Suite in F (Gustave Holst), Moon River (Henry Mancini), Three Untimely Dances (Carlos Acuna), and Libertango (Astor Piazzolla). Members include students Harbour Buchanan (senior, music education), Abby Sledden (senior, civil engineering), Hayley TeKippe (junior, music education), and Lucas Kral (freshman, mechanical engineering and music performance). Amy Christensen, associate teaching professor, coaches the group. This event will take place on the steps in front of Parks Library. The Grant Wood Mural Lobby is the rain location.

October 27 | 12:15 p.m. Urinetown preview 

“When you have to pay to pee, the singing gets desperate!” Join the cast of ISU Theatre’s Urinetown for a cheeky preview of the Tony Award-winning musical that flushes satire, rebellion, and outrageous comedy straight onto the Fisher Theater stage this November. Follow ISU Music and Theatre on Instagram and Facebook for updates and behind-the-scenes features. This event will take place on the steps in front of Parks Library. The Grant Wood Mural Lobby is the rain location.
