The excitement of students collaborating on projects, studying together, laughing, socializing, building community, and simply enjoying the sunshine in our wonderful building is contagious. As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of this special building, it’s obvious Parks Library has never been more alive.
Our passionate and committed staff make Parks Library and the Veterinary Medicine Library in Patterson Hall the go-to places to get stuff done. Whether it is to study, research, access technology, or find support, they make everyone feel welcome to find their place to create and share new knowledge.
Please consider this your personal invitation to stop by for a visit. We would love for you to join us and the campus community for our centennial celebration of Parks Library on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. We’ll have tours of new spaces and services, renowned items of Iowa State history on display, and celebratory refreshments including our own signature ice cream from the ISU Creamery. I promise you’ll leave inspired and charged up for our next century of service. If you can’t join us in person, be sure to connect with us on social media to follow the fun.
Your partnership is helping our dream for the next 100 years become a reality. With your help, Parks Library will remain a central, trusted, and beloved hub on campus that connects people to resources, information, collaborators, ideas, technology, and community. Thanks to your support, our people and programs in Parks Library and in the Veterinary Medicine Library will continue to advance the land-grant mission by supporting the free dissemination of Iowa State research that fuels innovation and solves global problems.
Please keep asking me hard questions about how the library is addressing real needs of our students and users. How are we still relevant? What we are going to do about artificial intelligence, information literacy, making education affordable and accessible? Your love of the library and Iowa State University, and your determination to see every student have what they need to succeed challenges us and enables us to empower this generation and generations to come. Thank you!
