If you’ve taken LIB 1600, then you know that your search results rely heavily on the search tool you use. While web search engines like Google are good for general searches and popular sources, if your assignment requires scholarly, peer-reviewed sources, it’s time to visit your library.
Scholarly databases, available to you through the University Library, contain journal articles, conference proceedings, books, book chapters, theses, and more. Use the Avanced Search feature to search for items by topic, author, date, and other criteria to help you find reliable information quickly and effectively.
To access the databases, go to the library website.
- Under the Quick Search bar, click the Articles & Databases link.
- Select your subject from the All Subjects drop-down menu.
- You’ll land on a page featuring your subject librarian, and a yellow Best Bets box.
- Best Bets are top databases handpicked by your subject librarians and are a great starting point for your research.
