Book donation sparks Start Something Innovation Bookshelf

Author: Jeff Kushkowski

Square frame with cardinal and gold colors in spray painted effect. In middle white letters in bold italic san serif "start" with a gold scribble then in regular italic serif "something". Below in center aligned gold italic san serif "Innovate Bookshelf."In late 2022, the library received a book donation from the Office of the President by way of the Senior Vice President and Provost. That book, Fifty Years of Disruptive Innovation,* by Kinze Manufacturing, included a request that a collection of titles about innovation and entrepreneurship be made available for the campus community.

We are pleased to announce that the Innovation Bookshelf is available in the Fireplace Reading Room in Parks Library and online. Both spaces contain the curated collection of 200 (and counting) print and e-book titles, selected by Iowa State librarians and outside subject experts. They represent our opinion of the best books about innovation and entrepreneurship in the current collection.

In addition to physical titles there is an online site that provides access to books on topics like creative ability, design thinking, social innovation, and specific titles for every Iowa State college.

The library holds more than 13,000 titles related to innovation and entrepreneurship, evenly split between electronic and print versions. There really is something for everyone. E-books can be accessed by signing into your library account.

No matter where a person is on their journey as an innovator – curious student, aspiring business owner, or a faculty member who wants to introduce innovation to their classroom – there are books in this collection for everyone.

Questions, comments, and book suggestions can be directed to Jeffrey Kushkowski, business and economics librarian, kushkows@iastate.edu, 515-294-2408.
