Tailgate with the University Library on Saturday.

Nov 07, 2017

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State University Library plans a tailgate event on Nov. 11, 2017, two hours prior to kickoff in Tent 4.

Along with food, drinks and giveaways, fans can see - up close and personal - a pop-up exhibition of some important pieces of Iowa State and Cyclone sports memorabilia:
a football signed by Dan McCarney
a women's beanie from the late 1920s
a men's beanie from 1909
Iowa State College pennant
Jack Trice's letter from Oct. 5, 1923
football programs from various decades
photos including one of Trice and his teammates

Not your typical pre-game tailgate!
This event provides Iowa State fans a first-of-its-kind opportunity, as these items are housed in Special Collections and part of displays in the department, not away from the University Library.
Stop by to see the memorabilia and enjoy food, drinks and giveaways before heading to Jack Trice Stadium as the Cyclones take on the Cowboys of Oklahoma State University.
In keeping with our land-grant mission, the University Library is excited to share a portion of our substantial collection of Iowa State and Cyclone sports items, and invite all of #cyclONEnation to see more.
