Welcome from Interim Dean of Library Services Hilary Seo
Welcome back everyone!
The University Library has had a busy summer making improvements to our spaces. Through the Parks Library Commons Area Improvement Project, we’ve created six new collaboration rooms and increased options for student individual and group study, which will include more soft seating and, of course, electrical outlets. The main service desk will be front and center and enable visitors to readily access our knowledgeable staff. A new interactive digital kiosk is coming soon to assist with wayfinding and highlight library events. Phase 2 of the Parks Library Bathroom Project will provide new men’s rooms and custodial closets in the north end of the 1960s addition on floors ground through third. We expect these projects to be completed by the end of August.
We invite you to come see our new spaces, and while you are here, check out the new artwork throughout the library on loan to us from University Museums. We have chosen to focus on women artists and artists of color to complement the other works in Parks Library. For more information, see the May 24 news release. We hope that all of the art inspires our visitors and engages them in the creative process and conversation.
