Welcome from Dean of Library Services Beth McNeil
Welcome back to the Iowa State University Library and academic year 2018-19.
Each day at the ISU Library, you will find expert librarians and staff who are ready to assist. Our excellent collections and services are readily available to everyone at our facilities and online. In keeping with the American Library Association, Library Bill of Rights, we are steadfast in our efforts to offer users a vibrant and inclusive culture that honors diversity and intellectual freedom.
A lot has happened in Parks Library this summer, and construction work on restrooms has been ongoing. The remodeled restrooms on each floor in the northwest section of the building will be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and gender-neutral including a family restroom.
We appreciated your active role with helping us address budget challenges last year. Due to ongoing issues, additional cuts to journal subscriptions and monograph purchases are necessary. Please contact Ed Goedeken or liaison librarians with questions. Your continued patience and assistance is appreciated, as additional challenges are likely in the coming years.
We hope you will find time to stop by and say hello, and while you are here, visit the new exhibition in Special Collections and University Archives. Activist Agriculture: Farm Protest in Iowa, 1929-1969 is open on the 4th floor of Parks Library through January 2019.
I am sure I will meet many of you on campus, and feedback is always welcome. Please contact me by email or at 515-294-1443. Subject area inquiries may be directed to our liaison librarians. Additional questions may be sent to Curtis Brundy, associate university librarian for Scholarly Communication and Collections; Christine King, associate dean for Research and Instruction Services; Hilary Seo, associate dean for Curation Services; and Lisa Smith, head, Information Technology Services.
