University Library-Elsevier negotiation update
The University Library is in license renewal negotiations with Elsevier, the world’s largest publisher of scholarly journals. Consistent with the Library’s Principles for Advancing Openness through Journal Negotiations, at issue is significant concern over how Iowa State is priced as well as our need for greater transparency and progress towards open access.
Iowa State’s current agreement with Elsevier expired at the end of 2019, but negotiations will continue in good faith into 2020 with no immediate impact on access.
To help keep the Iowa State community informed about the Elsevier negotiation, open forums will take place at the Memorial Union.
- Tuesday, Jan. 14, noon-1 p.m., in the Campanile Room
- Wednesday, Jan. 15, 4-5 p.m., in the Gallery Room
Snacks and beverages will be provided.
In addition, the University Library has created an Elsevier Negotiation webpage to provide up-to-date information.
