Special Collections and University Archive: Instruction this spring.
SCUA archivists plan two spring library workshops. Preregister at Learn@ISU.
Hands on History: Using Primary Sources in the Classroom will be held 3-4:30 p.m., Friday, March 30.
Curious about using primary sources – historical documents available on line or materials from ISU Library Special Collections and University Archives - in the classroom? This hands-on workshop will demonstrate how instructors can incorporate primary sources and research into their classrooms. This workshop is not solely for history instructors; primary source literacy benefits students in all subject areas.
Beyond the Text: Rare Books as Artifacts is planned for 3-4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 5.
Trace the transition from manuscript to print culture, evidenced in early books and manuscript leaves from the library's rare books collection. Participants will learn to identify unique features of hand-press era books and have the opportunity to explore a book from the collection to discover its history.
