The Miller Open Education Mini-Grant Program is now accepting proposals for projects to be completed during the 2026/27 academic year. These grants support instructors who want to adopt, remix, or develop new open educational resources (OER), free and adaptable instructional materials of all types (textbooks, modules, videos, and more).
The call for proposals for the 2026 Miller Open Education Mini-Grant Program closes at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
Mini-Grants are available at several different funding levels depending on the project being proposed. The breakdown of these levels is provided below:
- Level 1: Adopt and integrate OER into a course: $1,000
- Level 2: Adapt or remix existing OER: $1,500–$4,000
- Level 3: Create an original OER for a course: Up to $10,000
- Level 4: Implement open pedagogy into a course: Up to $5,000
Funded by the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT), the University Library, and the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost (SVPP), the Miller Open Education Mini-Grant Program is now in its ninth year. Since the program’s launch, students at Iowa State have saved over $3 million thanks to the use of OER.
