New Library Quick Search easier to use and more accessible

The University Library will launch a new user interface for Quick Search on the library home page June 17. The design upgrade is more intuitive and focused on usability, persistent search tools, and improved mobile responsiveness. One factor driving the decision to move to a new interface is to enhance the experience for assistive technology users and to conform more to the latest accessibility standards. The overall functionality of the Quick Search interface, has not changed, but users will notice a number of improvements in the new Primo NDE (Next Discovery Experience) version, including: 

• Cleaner interface design 
• New landing page with explanatory text and helpful links 
• Refine Results panel now at left; use All Filters button to toggle its visibility 
• Quick Filter buttons now at top of results: Peer-Reviewed Journals, Full Text Online, Physical Items, Open Access 
• Expand Results Options toggle reveals Search in Full Text and Expand My Results options 
• New  Search in Your Own Words option allows users to use natural language to generate advanced search queries 
• Records now feature related organizations and locations in addition to persons
