Library Dean Beth McNeil elected to HathiTrust Board of Governors

Beth McNeil, dean of library services, has been elected to the HathiTrust Board of Governors to serve a 1-year term (January 1-December 31, 2016). The Board is comprised of 12 elected and appointed members and oversees the HathiTrust?s 10-million-volume digital preservation repository, research center and other programs.

McNeil is committed to the preservation of the scholarly record, in print and digital forms and recognizes that these large, long-standing challenges need community solutions. HathiTrust?has been successful in building shared infrastructure for digital preservation, which can serve as a foundation to help build effective shared print storage strategies.

McNeil arrived at Iowa State University in July 2015 from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind. Her responsibilities included 12 campus libraries, archives/special collections, technical services, digitization and the collections management units. ISU Library facilities include the William Robert Parks and Ellen Sorge Parks Library, the Design Reading Room, Veterinary Medical Library and the Mathematics Reading Room.
