Free digital access to the New York Times and Wall Street Journal is available to the campus community.
The University Library renewed the New York Times subscription, and access is available now. Additionally, the campus community can read the digital version of The Wall Street Journal for free. Activating these subscriptions takes only a few minutes. For information about these subscriptions (and online access to other local, national and international newspapers), access the Finding Newspapers Library Guide.
Via a November 2017 Your Library article, the University Library requested and received feedback to gauge interest in New York Times subscription renewal. This question arose after the Iowa State Student Government decided to discontinue its NYT contract for a campus-wide subscription that expired at the end of 2017. We received a lot of feedback from members of the campus community in support of offering the NYT and WSJ, and responses represented a variety of departments and colleges.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to take advantage of access to these journals. These are one-year subscriptions, and the cost is approximately $35,000 for each. Claim yours, and get in the habit of reading these valuable resources. It’s likely use or lose.
