The library’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee has created an online exhibit for Asian American Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month, which Iowa State celebrates in April. The exhibit features ebooks, recipes, and videos that can be enjoyed from home.

A joint resolution proposed by Representative Frank Horton was passed and signed by President Jimmy Carter in 1978 recognizing Pacific/Asian American Heritage Week. In 1990, Asian American Heritage Week as extended to a month and in 1992, May was officially designated Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Because of Iowa State’s academic calendar, we celebrate APIDA Heritage Month in April, recognizing and celebrating the communities, experiences, and achievements of Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi Americans.
