Life Hacks for Using the ISU Library

This guide is designed to help students and researchers become familiar with the ways librarians can make research easier and more efficient. It will help you identify the right librarian to help with your question, explore the different options for getting in touch, and share tips for getting the most out of a research consultation.

24/7 remote resources

The library's electronic resources are always available to Iowa State students, faculty and staff regardless of location. Faculty and students can remain connected to our resources via the following:

Distance Learning Library Support

This guide provides information about accessing library databases and collections remotely.

Article Indexes & Databases

The library has more than 400 research databases that can be accessed by ISU faculty, staff, and students. The list can be filtered by subject area.

ISU Research and Course Guides

Librarians at ISU have created an extensive collection of research guides to support student learning and faculty research. They fall into two main categories: guides for general disciplinary support and guides that support specific classes.

Online Access

Our online databases and other electronic materials (i.e. articles, ebooks, videos and more) will still be available to the public both on and off-campus while the physical library is closed. If you have questions about how to access materials from off-campus, please visit our off-campus access webpage or the Distance Learning Library Support guide above.
