Historical note

 
The Iowa State Grange Patrons of Husbandry is the state of Iowa’s representative to the National Grange Patrons of Husbandry (commonly referred to as “the Grange”). Formed in 1867 to assist farmers devastated by the Civil War, the Grange was America’s first agricultural fraternity and continues to be a lobby group for farming interests.  The Grange is organized into four levels: the Subordinate (local) GSrange, Pomona (county) Grange, State Grange, and National Grange. The Iowa State Grange organized in 1868 and continues to be active.

This collection consists of correspondence, membership rosters, meeting programs memos, news clippings, and several issues of the Iowa Granger newspaper.
