The Douglass Mutual Livestock Association of Pottstown, Berks
County, Pennsylvania was an early agricultural insurance
organization. The purpose of the organization was to insure horses,
cows, and mules against sickness and death. In the case of death an
animal was appraised by a committee of three member appraisers

(1880-1899). The ledger contains the minutes of the Douglass Mutual
Livestock Association of Pottstown, Berks County, Pennsylvania, an
