The American
Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) was founded
in 1907 as the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE).
The ASABE is a professional society of agricultural engineers in
industry and public service. The society develops engineering
standards used in agriculture and sponsors national technical
meetings and continuing education for agricultural engineers.
Society activities are also conducted through geographic sections,
affiliated communities, and special programs.
The Arkansas
Section is a group open to any member of the national association
residing in Arkansas. The objects of the group, according to the
by-laws, are: to promote the science and art of engineering in
agriculture; to encourage original research; to foster agricultural
engineering education; to advance the standards of agricultural
engineering; to promote the intercourse of agricultural engineers
among themselves and with allied technologists; to encourage the
professional improvement of its members; and severally and in
cooperation with other groups to broaden the usefulness of
agricultural engineering. |

collection includes by-laws, committee and award files,
correspondence, financial documents, annual meeting materials,
membership information, publications, and photographs. The
collection also includes materials relating to the Southwest Region
of ASABE. |
