Descartes
Pascal was an agriculturalist who also experimented with photography. As a result of his
interest, the ISU Special Collections Department possesses
several hundred gelatin glass plate negatives belonging to Pascal.
Due to the difficulty of user access of
glass plate negatives, the Special Collections Department created a special preservation
project. Funded by Pascal's great-niece, Darlene Hudek, preservation black and white
still photographs were made of selected images. These images were then scanned and
placed on the Special Collections website, thus providing researchers with a view of the
past rarely seen.
