HEC Day demonstration, 1922

The Home Economics Club started HEC Day in the spring of 1919.  During the celebration, the Division of Home Economics departments held open houses to display their achievements; they held demonstrations and set up booths for exhibits and refreshments such as popcorn and cherry pies. The event also included folk dancing, a soccer game, a dance, and a vaudeville show called HEC Vodvil [sic].  Although many of the features of HEC Day (including the cherry pies), were incorporated into VEISHEA, HEC Day remained a separate event into the 1930s.
