Collections Information
Archives of Women in Science and Engineering
The Archives of Women in Science and Engineering collects the personal and professional papers of women in all areas of the sciences and engineering, except that of the medical sciences. The Archives also solicits the records of women's organizations in these fields.
Manuscript Collections
Browse and search the manuscript collections stored in Special Collections. Collections include papers and records of individuals and organizations primarily in the fields of life sciences, agricultural and rural life, and engineering.
University Archives
The University Archives collects, describes, preserves and exhibits university records that contain historical, administrative, legal, or fiscal value. The records include departmental records and the papers of faculty and alumni.
Artifact Collection
The Special Collections Department also collects a variety of three-dimensional items that document the history of Iowa State University, agriculture, science, and technology. Currently, there are about 2,500 items in the artifact collection dating from 1849 to the present.
Digital Documents
The Special Collections Department maintains millions of documents found in over 1,500 collections. Several documents and books have been digitized to provide better access for researchers. Access to these items can be obtained through the Library's Digital Collections site or through the Department's page on Scribd.
Film Collection
The Special Collections Department maintains a film collection of approximately 10,000 titles.
Photograph Collection
The Special Collections Department maintains over 1,000,000 photographs. The majority of the images are about Iowa State University and focus on the activities of faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
