October 1997:
Karen Mason and Tanya
Zanish-Belcher discuss the formation of a group for Iowa archivists at the
MAC meeting in St. Louis.
June
1998:
A
"Get Acquainted" meeting of interested Iowa Archivists is held
at the Iowa Heritage Expo in Des Moines.
May
1999:
Grace
Linden sends out a survey to potential members, and volunteers to serve as
newsletter editor. Issues were sent to CIA members in August, 1999
and March, 2000.
September
1999:
A meeting
was held at the National Czech and Slovak Museum & Library in Cedar
Rapids, hosted by Dave Muhlena.
Fall
1999:
A website
for the CIA was created, and is hosted by the Special Collections
Department at the Iowa State University Library.

May
2000:
A meeting
was held at the Iowa State University Library, hosted by Tanya Zanish-Belcher.
A tour of the Special Collections Department and the Library's
art work was given.
September
2000:
A meeting
was held at the State Historical Society in Des Moines, and was hosted by
Jeffrey Dawson.
January
2001:
The CIA
listserv was created and is moderated by Rachel Vagts, Luther College.
April
2001:
A meeting
was held at the University of Iowa, hosted by Karen Mason. Tours were
given of the Iowa Women's Archives, the Special Collections Department,
and the State Historical Society (Iowa City).
October
2001:
A meeting
was held in Sioux City and was hosted by Grace Linden. A joint session
with the Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota Historical Records Advisory
Boards was held. A tour of downtown Sioux City followed the meeting.
Fall,
2001:
A meeting
was held in Decorah at Luther College, hosted by Rachel Vagts.
2002-2004:
The Consortium of Iowa
Archivists forms a Local Arrangement Committee to host the Fall meeting
of the Midwest Archives Conference in 2004. Meetings are held in
Ames, Des Moines, Grinnell, Iowa City, and West Branch.
Fall, 2004:
The Iowa Archivists host the
fall meeting of the Midwest Archives Conference in Des Moines, Iowa
June,
2005:
The Consortium of Iowa Archivists hold an annual meeting, hosted
by the Czech/Slovak Museum and Library in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
