ArkDB: Pig - Roslin Institute, Edinburgh. Search pig genome mapping data from the ARKdb database system. Can be queried for textual information or graphical map displays.

Breeds of Livestock: Swine - Oklahoma State University. Information, color illustrations, and references provided for more than 70 breeds of swine.

Cleaning Up Hog Waste in North Carolina - – Environmental Defense. Reports on development of new technologies. Includes reports of current research at North Carolina State University.

Illini PorkNet - University of Illinois Extension. Offers many full-text papers on feeding, nutrition, reproduction, health, and disease; links to additional swine and pork Internet resources.

Information Resources for Swine in Biomedical Research - Animal Welfare Information Center, USDA. Provides biomedical researchers and others with access to baseline literature on common models and procedures. Comparative anatomy and physiology of the pig, an extensive bibliography, and Web resource lists.

Information Resources on Swine Housing, Care, and Welfare - Animal Welfare Information Center, National Agricultural Library, USDA. Lists and describes training materials (multimedia, audiovisuals, manuals), books and proceedings, and web site resources. Includes a lengthy bibliography.

Iowa Pork Industry Center - Iowa State University. A cooperative effort of several ISU Colleges and ISU Extension to promote efficient pork production in Iowa. Site includes information about the Center and a variety of reports, presentations, market links, and a calendar of events.

MARK - Extension Swine Husbandry, Department of Animal Science, North Carolina State University.  A focus on North Carolina research and information, but many other swine pages also listed.

NAGRP Pig Genome Coordination Program - National Animal Genome Research Program, U.S. Pig Gene Mapping Coordination Program. Resources include databases, gene maps, educational materials, updates, links to other resources.

National Hog Farmer - News, features, and editorials from recent issues of the magazine.

National Pork Producers Council - Industry news and information, public policy, hot topics, other resources.

National Swine Improvement Federation - Includes the Federation's Guidelines for Uniform Swine Improvement Programs, conference programs and proceedings, Swine Genetics Handbook, and information about the NSIF.

Nutrient Requirements of Swine - National Academy Press, National Academy of Sciences. The entire contents of the 10th edition (1998) of this publication can be searched and read online. Detailed coverage of swine nutrition and feed ingredients.

Ohio Pork Information Center - The Ohio State University Extension. Many swine, agriculture, and market links; news; directory of resource experts; youth swine presentations.

Porcine Myology - University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Cross-sectional, lateral, and skeletal views of muscles and bones, with detailed descriptions and an anatomical glossary.

pork.org - The official Web site of the National Pork Board. Sections for pork producers and consumers, includes news, publications, recipes.

Pork Central - University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension. Access to a variety of resources for pork producers, from the University of Nebraska and elsewhere.

Pork Information Gateway – U.S. Pork Center of Excellence, Communities of National Cooperation. The Center is a collaboration of government, universities, and industry to facilitate research and learning for U.S. pork producers. This site includes numerous fact sheets, documents, an image gallery, glossary, and schedule of upcoming events.

Porkopolis - A lighthearted, yet informative look at pig history, lore, facts, and quotations, with links to other fun sites.

Swine: National Animal Health Monitoring System - National Center for Animal Health Surveillance, USDA. Full-text online NAHMS publications on swine health and management, including the Swine 2000 and Swine 1995 reports.

Swine Production Homepage - University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. An introduction to swine production in the U.S. Covers swine biology, facilities, and management. Includes glossary of terms, references, and self-quizzes.

ThePigSite.com - Articles, news, recipes, photos, and information on companies, products, and swine diseases. Links to many swine-related organizations worldwide. Registration (free) is required to access some materials.
