Multimedia production stations

The LCC (Learning Connections Center) on 1^st floor of the library, houses four MPS studios (2 MAC and 2 P.C. systems). These studios can be used to create media products such as VHS tapes or DVD disks for class assignments, projects, etc.

General use guidelines:

• The studios are intended primarily for use by the ISU community, but are available to other library users as time and resources permit.
• The equipment is intended for educational and research purposes. Use of the equipment for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited. Review the copyright and fair use guidelines to make sure you are in compliance!
• Users may reserve reasonable blocks of time for equipment use during the time we have technical support at the Help and Information Desk (in the LCC). When technical support is not available, the rooms are available "first come, first served".
• Anyone may use the studios for group study, but those needing to use the equipment have priority. Library staff reserves the right to ask those NOT using the equipment to leave a studio, if the studio is needed for its intended, multi-media use.
• DO NOT ALTER WIRING among the monitor, decks and converter. You may unhook the front RCA jacks on the SVHS deck to input from your source unit, being careful to return the connections as you found them, when you are finished.
• Remember to allow enough time to finish and save your project, keeping in mind the length of any reservations, library closing time, etc.
  (Helpful hint: Estimate two times the run time of the input item, plus 30 minutes)
• IMPORTANT !!!!: Be sure to back-up your work to your own portable storage or AFS file space before you terminate your session! While files may stay on some computers for several days, files are purged at irregular times, so don’t count on anything being available the next time you use a studio.
