Iowa State University Library offers a variety of services for patrons with either temporary or permanent disabilities. Iowa State students, faculty and staff are encouraged to contact the Library's Stacks Management Unit at (515) 294-0444 for information on access and services available. Stacks Management is located on the first floor of Parks and is open all hours that the Library is open. Full-time staff are available Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. However limited services for patrons with disabilities are available evenings and weekends and patrons are encourage to make prior arrangements for assistance during these times. Cooperation and coordination with the campus Student Disability Resource Center is maintained for the benefit of patrons with disabilities.

Multimedia computer workstation for the disabled - features Windows XP, Internet access, Kurzweil software (both read only and full version), large print and speech output, DECtalk PC speech synthesizer with 9 voices, speaking 75-650 words per minute, Cicero text reader and scanner creating a reading system, and inkjet printer. This workstation is located on first floor, room 188A, Learning Connection Center, First Floor
Multimedia computer workstations (8) in Media Center with read only versions of Kurzweil software. These stations are located on the lower level, room 2.
Photocopy Services - During normal hours of operation, Stacks Management ((515) 294-0444) will provide assistance to individuals who have difficulty using copy machines. Advanced arrangements are strongly recommended for evening/weekend assistance or if the photocopying request is unusually large. Patrons may ask for this service at either the Circulation Desk
Branch Library and Reading Rooms
Since each library location has a unique physical arrangement and some have limited
access, we recommend that persons call before visiting. When possible, users with special
access needs will be assisted on an immediate basis. Those with non-routine or extensive
transactions are encouraged to make advance arrangements.
ISU Library staff seek to become more aware of the needs of patrons with
disabilities, and attempt to provide quality service to all patrons.
