Binding theses - ISU departments

ISU Departments can have theses (departmental & student copies), departmental serials, and other office-copy books bound through the Regent Institutions' binding contract provider. Materials must be prepared by the department and hand delivered to the mailroom in the Parks Library. The Library is only a drop-off / pick-up point; all paperwork and packaging should be completed before delivery to the Library.

Departments must:

• Obtain a purchase order.
• Pack the items in a box or boxes and number the boxes. (Note: materials should be packed according to binding type, e.g. all theses in one box, all serials in another, etc.)
• Enclose a binding form or letter for each monograph or periodical. (Note: if multiple copies of one title are to be bound the same, only one form or letter needs to be included in the box.) The following information must be included:
  • Name of contact person/requestor
  • Campus address, including department name
  • Campus phone number
  • Purchase order number
  • Exact text as it is to be printed on the spine and/or front cover
  • Text color (white, black or gold)
  • Cloth cover color with color number (see cloth cover color chart)
• Complete the bindery shipment record and attach 3 copies to the outside of the first box and provide a copy to Bindery Prep, 204 Parks Library.
  • Name of contact person/requestor
  • Campus address, including department name
  • Campus phone number
  • Purchase order number
  • Total number of boxes being sent
  • Total number of pieces being sent
  • Type of binding being requested
• Check the drop-off dates and hand deliver the boxes to the University Library mailroom (located on the west side of the building across from Atanasoff Hall) on appropriate delivery days between the hours of 7:30 a.m.- noon and 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
• Once the bound volumes are returned to the Library (approximately 3 weeks after drop-off), the contact person/requestor will be notified that their materials can be picked up at the Library. They must arrange a time to meet Bindery Prep staff in the mailroom for pick-up.
• The Department will be invoiced directly by the bindery.
