
Began as a talk show in 1924; the magazine was started in 1940 covering home stories, recipes, household tips, child-rearing advice and comments on current events.

A cookbook complied by Mrs. L. O. Kleber; contributors included several well know feminists, including Carrie Chapman Catt. Letters from state governors that had already passed laws for female suffrage were also included.

Mary B. Welch was the wife of the first president of Iowa State College (University), and head of the Department of Domestic Economy at Iowa State from 1875 to 1883.
