Update on the FY18 budget and the University Library

Apr 12, 2017

The Library has undertaken a review of ongoing resources to plan for journal subscription cancellations in FY18. This is due?to the anticipated budget constraints for the upcoming fiscal year?and?estimates of 6.5% cost increases to 2018 journal subscriptions. With no increase to the Library?s budget, we will experience a shortfall of about $700,000 for journal subscriptions and other ongoing resources.

Librarians are reviewing the Library?s current journal costs and usage and compiling a list of those that are expensive and where statistics show little campus use. To cancel 2018 subscriptions, decisions must be made by early September, and we need faculty input before you leave campus for the summer. Please watch for an email in the coming days that will contain information for how to provide feedback.

The annual Library Liaison meetings are scheduled for 2 p.m. April 18 and 10 a.m. April 19, 2017, both in 198 Parks Library. All faculty are invited to attend these meetings, and the agenda includes a brief update on the journal cancellation project. ?
