Special Collections and University Archives News: Spring exhibitions and activities planned.

The opening reception for the spring exhibition, “Do[ing] their bit:” Iowa’s Role in the Great War, will be held at 6:30 p.m., Jan. 17, 2018, in Room 198 in the Parks Library. Dean of Library Services Beth McNeil will give opening remarks, along with an introduction from Head of Special Collections and University Archives Petrina Jackson. Guest speakers, Jack Lufkin and Mark Heggen will show and discuss, Deeds Not Words, their historic video about the World War I Black Officers Training Camp at Fort Des Moines.

In collaboration with Iowa State Student Wellness, Special Collections and University Archives a pop-up exhibition, “Small Acts Big Impacts,” is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Feb. 1, 2018 in 405 Parks Library. This exhibit will include trivia that begins at a table in the Parks Library Lobby, continues to 405 Parks Library, and ends in the Green Dot exhibit in the ReACT Gallery, in the Reiman Gallery of the Christian Petersen Art Museum at Morrill Hall.
