Repair Cafe returns to ISU Feb. 27

Author: Lisa Muccigrosso

5-8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, ISU Repair Cafe at Sustainapalooza, Campanile Room, Memorial Union

Following on the heels of a successful event in October, Repair Café returns to ISU during Sustainapalooza on Feb. 27, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. in the Campanile Room at the Memorial Union.

This free event, sponsored by the University Library, Department of Industrial Design, Department of Art and Visual Culture, and the Office of Sustainability, allows participants to bring clothing and soft goods, jewelry and accessories, personal computers and laptops, and small electronics in need of a tweak or repair and empower themselves toward reuse instead of disposal. Campus and community volunteers will be on hand to assess repair needs and assist you in assessing and completing the repairs on-site.

At our last event, ISU community members brought in over 40 items for repair in five categories: bikes, clothing/soft goods, computers, small electronics, and jewelry/accessories. Twenty-three volunteers averaged a 74% successful fix rate across all categories.
