Party at Parks Library, 6-10 p.m., Fri., Dec. 9.
With the semester all but complete (except for the FINALS focus), students should plan to attend a?Party at Parks Library from 6 to 10 p.m., Fri., Dec. 9, to celebrate the end of Dead Week.
Library staff brainstormed and came up with an array of activities and food to offer that are sure to tempt students to take a well-deserved study break.
?Dean of Library Services Beth McNeil has made it evident that she cares about supporting students during the most rigorous academic weeks of the semester,? said Student Government Vice President Cody West, a junior in biology. ?She wants to push a positive message out about the library.?
The festivities will happen in rooms 198 and 199. Pizza will be served starting at 6 p.m. Secret Life of Pets will be shown at 6 and again at 8 p.m., and since movies require popcorn, that will be served, too. Did somebody say ice cream? Yes. We?ll serve ice cream!
For those who may be feeling creative, reproductions of some items in our Special Collections and University Archives will be available for visitors to color (with crayons, pens or pencils). Our giant chess set will be set up along with a few other board games.
Other items sure to inspire relaxation include chair massages from 6 to 9 p.m. and Barks@Parks evening edition will take place then, too. For added stress releif, a?few dogs will be available to pet and cuddle.
One final important thing, Cy has exams to study for so he?ll be at Parks from 6 to 7 p.m. in case anyone wants a selfie with him.
West pointed out that university administration is doing a great service for the students by holding this event, which allows them to stay on campus and relax while also being able to walk right back upstairs and continue studying.
