Library partners with GIS facility for Nov. 15 GIS Day celebration

Author: Michael Cummings

GIS Day is Nov. 15

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software is good for all-things where, like making location predictions, discovering satellites, and seeing the world (think Google Earth) without leaving home. Since 1999, GIS Day has been set aside to applaud this important technology.

Celebrate GIS Day on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Iowa State University librarians and ISU Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Support and Research Facility staff plan a come-and-go event in The Catalyst (Room 199), Parks Library. GIS practitioners will speak throughout the day, to share their research and information about GIS opportunities and programs on campus. Participants can grab a free lunch and join the Mapping Masterminds competition, which features three categories, prizes, and is open to everyone; click here for additional competition details.

GIS Day is for everyone, from the GIS curious to the GIS user. There will be free food and lots of swag.

For more information and a detailed schedule, visit the GIS Day 2023 website.
