Celebrate Black History Month: An evening with Ralph Ellison and Chinua Achebe

As part of Black History Month, the Department of English and Iowa State University Library Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA) plan a salon-style gathering 4-5:30 p.m., Feb. 28, in Room 212, Ross Hall.  Professor and Department Chair Barbara Ching will give a welcome, and SCUA Head Petrina Jackson will give an introduction on why SCUA has the interview clips.

Two film clips will be screened that were recently discovered and sent for digitization by SCUA A/V Preservation Specialist Rosie Rowe: 10-minute interviews of writers Ralph Ellison (March 1970) and Chinua Achebe (no date) conducted by local talk show host Dorcas Speer. Assistant Professor Brianna Burke and Lecturer Edward Eason will get the conversation started. Refreshments provided by Department of English.
