Royal Society of Chemistry has provided ISU with 24 voucher codes in their Gold For Gold promotion. These vouchers allow an author to publish their article at Gold level open access without paying the article publication fee. Gold open access is when the "final 'article of record' is made available to all, immediately, without any barriers to access." This level of open access enables increased dissemination of information and therefore potentially greater impact. For more information on open access policies of the RSC - see http://www.rsc.org/Publishing/Journals/OpenScience/Open_Access_RSC.asp. Please contact Heather Lewin (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have questions or want one of these voucher codes. They will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis after the article has been accepted for publication.
A Nucleic Acids Research (NAR) institutional membership has been purchased for ISU. This enables all ISU researchers to receive discounted publication charges when publishing in NAR. The current discount is 50%. All articles published in NAR are published under an Open Access model and are freely-accessible worldwide. For more details on this, see: http://www.oxfordjournals.org/our_journals/nar/announce_openaccess.html.
These two programs join others that assist ISU authors in receiving discounted author fees. The other institutional memberships the ISU Library currently provides for ISU authors are: BioMedCentral and Public Library of Science (PLoS).
