"Where's Rodin?" is "a touring comparison" of Saint John the Baptist Preaching by Auguste Rodin, French (1840-1917) and Country Doctor by Christian Petersen, Danish-American (1885-1961), which has been traveling around the Iowa State University campus since the summer of 2010. The sculptures are on display on the first floor of Parks Library outside the Fireplace Room and will remain there until February 2012. Since last year, the works have been shown in a number of places including Beardshear Hall, Hach Hall, the Hixson-Lied Student Success Center and the Gerdin Business Building. Said to have been influenced by Rodin, Petersen was the Campus Artist-In-Residence at Iowa State (then Iowa State College) from 1935 to 1961, having completed numerous sculpture icons over those 21 years.
These two works are from the permanent Art on Campus Collection and an educational resource; more than 32,000 visitors to Parks Library per week will have the opportunity to appreciate them. Parks Library is open daily. For detailed hours, visit http://www.lib.iastate.edu/libhours-calloc/2026/3030?location_name=parks.
