Find articlesThere are a number of ways to find articles. Several of the most efficient ways are listed below. If you have questions or need more help finding articles, Ask a Librarian. If you have a citation to a specific article, try using Citation Linker, which provides links to electronic full text (if available). If full text is not available, Citation Linker will direct you to the Library Catalog, where you can determine whether the ISU Library owns the desired journal, magazine, etc. If the item is not available in the ISU Library, Citation Linker also provides you with an Interlibrary Loan request form. The ISU Library has hundreds of indexes that can be used to find articles in journals, magazines, and newspapers. Some indexes provide article citations only; others include the full-text of articles. Indexes are often focused on particular subject areas. Some indexes - such as Academic Search Elite and Academic OneFile - cover many different subject areas, and can be useful starting points. Searching indexes is the quickest and most efficient way to find articles on a particular topic. The ISU Library has thousands of electronic journals. You can find articles by browsing or searching through online full-text journals, which are listed alphabetically on the e-Journals page. If you already know the particular journal you want, or just want to browse, this can be an effective method for finding articles. The ISU Library's entire journal collection includes thousands of electronic, print and microform journals. The vast majority of these can be found in the Library Catalog using a "serial title" search--although a small number of electronic journals do not appear in the catalog. Also, remember that the catalog cannot be used to search for individual articles.
