Find articles

There are a number of ways to find articles. Several of the most efficient ways are listed below. If you have questions or need more help finding articles, Ask a Librarian.

  • Learn how to find articles
  • Indexes & Abstracts
The ISU Library has hundreds of indexes online and in print, which can be used to find articles in journals, magazines, and newspapers. Indexes are often focused on particular subject areas or disciplines, or type of information (such as newspaper articles, government reports, research articles, etc.). Some indexes - such as Academic Search Elite and Expanded Academic ASAP - cover many different subject areas, and can be very useful starting points. Searching an index is the quickest and most efficient way to find articles on a particular topic.
  • e-Journals
The ISU Library has thousands of journals online and in print. You can find articles by browsing or searching through online full-text journals. Journals are listed alphabetically on the e-Journals pages. If you already know the particular journal of database you want, or just want to browse, this can be an effective method for finding articles.
