Reserve provides books, audio-visual and non-print materials assigned by ISU instructors as supplemental, required course work. Members of the ISU community may access electronic materials, including journal articles, from any computer with Internet capability, but need to visit the Media Center (Rm. 002, Lower Level, Parks Library) during open hours to use books and audio-visual materials on reserve. Materials used in connection with courses are subject to copyright protection and licensing agreements may necessitate that members of the ISU community access some materials from an ISU internet address or enter their University ID and Library pin# (Set your library pin#) to obtain access.
Electronic materials are prepared for Reserve in a number of ways. Texts in machine-readable form (ASCII and word-processed documents, for example) may be converted to HTML or PDF (Portable Document Format) documents. Printed materials are scanned and converted into PDF files, which can then be viewed, printed and downloaded using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Audio files are available in Real Media format and accessed through RealOne Player.
