Student Employment in the Library

You must be enrolled for the current semester at ISU to be eligible to submit an application for employment in the library. The Human Resource Services Office will call students whose qualifications and schedule fit the requirements of an open position. Some positions require typing, computer skills, or European language. Duties/skills of a Library Aide may involve typing, filing, shelving books, shelf reading (checking that books on the shelves are in the correct order), security, assisting patrons, working with computers/computer programs, minor film repair and film splicing, or working with A/V material.

A 10-hour per week minimum is required for a majority of the positions. Students can work a maximum of 20 hours per week while school is in session during fall and spring semesters. (The combined total of a student's campus employment, including hours worked outside the library, cannot exceed 20 hours per week.) There are 325 student positions in the library. Approximately 60-100 students may be hired during a semester.

Starting pay is $6.15 per hour. All student employees receiving a satisfactory evaluation will receive increases upon completion of:
