Research Guides and Information Literacy

The research guides and tutorials gathered below help to define basic concepts in information literacy as well as understanding and learning how to do library research for classes.  Resource guides for specific classes and their assignments are included under Courses, at the individual class level.  The Guides listed here address general information literacy concepts that will be useful for many different classes, as well as for lifelong learning outside the classroom.

Information Literacy Tutorials - some exemplary tutorials covering IL topics

  • PRIMO: Peer-Reviewed Instruction Materials Online (from ALA/ACRL - searchable database collection of peer-reviewed online tutorials on information literacy topics and library research skills)

  • Road to Research (from UCLA Libraries - excellent interactive tutorial covering all aspects of information literacy, from choosing keywords on a topic, to understanding & avoiding plagiarism)

  • TILT (from University of Texas, Austin libraries - one of the original IL tutorials)
