Biomaterials cover a wide range of materials used in a large number of areas that have either biological origin or are being used to replace materials that have a biological origin. The new scientific area of nanotechnology crosses into a number of the traditional areas of materials science as it considers the uses of various materials at the molecular and near molecular scale.
