Dissertations & Theses (formerly Dissertation Abstracts) -- Dissertations & Theses provides access to abstracts and information about United States and selected foreign Dissertations published since 1861. Access to the database is available by subject, author, title and other methods. Dissertations for Iowa State University are available in the Parks Library; others can be obtained directly from University Microfilms or via interlibrary loan. Many ISU dissertations from 1997 to the present are available full-text from this database, and for other dissertations, the database offers access to a 24-page preview of the dissertation.
ERIC -- The premier education index/abstract. The ERIC database, produced by the Educational Resources Information Center, provides access to more than a million citations and abstracts of articles published in over 700 educational journals and thousands of reports, on such topics as adult and vocational education; teacher education; reading and communication skills; disabled and gifted children; tests, measurement, and evaluation; and higher education. The ERIC database indexes articles and reports dated 1966 to the present. The ISU Library subscribes to most of the journals indexed by ERIC, and maintains a microfiche file of all indexed reports. The indexed reports (ED documents) are available full-text online.
Library Literature (FirstSearch) -- Provides access to articles from more than 220 key library and information science periodicals. It indexes selected state library journals, more than 600 books annually, conference proceedings, library school theses, and pamphlets. It includes book reviews. Coverage is from 1984 to the present.
Subject Index to Literature on Electronic Sources of Information -- Deals with all aspects of electronic publishing and includes print and non-print materials, periodical articles, monographs and individual chapters in collected works. This edition includes 1,239 titles. Thousands of URLs (Uniform Resource Locators) were added to various entries. The Subject Index to Literature on Electronic Sources of Information is accompanied by the Electronic Sources of Information. Both the Index and the Sources are continuously updated.
The British Library -- Provides access to information about all aspects of the services and collections of the United Kingdom's national library.
Center for Research Libraries -- A consortium of colleges, universities and research libraries. Search the CRL catalog of over 600,000 holdings.
Copac -- A national online public access catalogue, providing unified access to the online catalogues of some of the largest university research libraries in the UK and Ireland.
Gateway to Library Catalogs -- Provides access to the catalog of the Library of Congress as well as hundreds of other library catalogs.
Karlsruhe Virtual Catalog, KVK -- The Karlsruhe Virtual Catalog is an interface that allows you to search simultaneously the holdings of many major libraries in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, and the UK. It functions as a sort of European Union Catalog. Individual library catalogs may also be searched singly; their availability and coverage of older materials varies. In addition, KVK provides access to the German Union Catalog of Serials and to German book trade catalogs, including German Books in Print.
LibDex -- Provides links to library catalogs on the World Wide Web searchable by geographical, vendor and library-type indexes; links to publisher's catalogs, Z39.50 resources, and versions of Hytelnet, the utility that provides access to telnet accessible sites on the Internet.
Libweb : Library Servers via WWW -- Listing of libraries in over 100 countries; access to public, academic, national, state libraries and regional consortia.
OPAC of the Union Catalogue of Serials (ZDB) -- The ZDB contains more than 1 million bibliographic records of serials from the 16th century onwards, from all countries, in all languages, held in 4000 German (and some foreign) libraries, with holdings information. It does not contains contents, i.e. journal articles.
State of Iowa Libraries Online (SILO) -- Statewide electronic library information network providing access to Iowa's libraries and electronic catalog, the statewide "card catalog" known as the Iowa locator. Serves as a gateway to other Internet resources.
UNESCO Libraries Portal -- An international information gateway for librarians and library users.
Copyright Management Center--Includes links to a wide variety of resources about copyright in general and its importance to higher education.

Action for Libraries -- Published by the Bibliographic Center for Research (BCR), AFL provides news about BCR, the latest information about OCLC, reference databases and other BCR products and services, as well as a regular column about the Internet.
Annual Review of OCLC Research -- This journal chronicled the research activities of OCLC from 1986 to 1999, first in print and later on the Web. Each issue contains a list of publications by OCLC Research staff.
Archival Science -- This journal is the only independent, international, peer-reviewed journal on archival science, covering all aspects of theory, methodology and practice, with appropriate attention to the non-anglophone world.

Library History Database -- The Library History Database now contains information on over 27,000 libraries in the British Isles, and is based on over 1,200 published works.
VLB Datenbanken -- Database with search engine for information about books currently being offered by publishers in German-speaking countries. World Wide Web version of German Books in Print (Verzeichnis lieferbarer Bucher).
Academic Library Peer Comparison Chart -- From the National Center for Education Statistics, this site allows the user to get information on a particular library, or to customize a peer group to view customized reports of the comparisons between the library of interest and its peers on a variety of variables.
Cataloguer's Toolbox -- A collection of cataloging resources from the Memorial University of Newfoundland.
The Center for Social Informatics -- Social informatics refers to the research and study into the social aspects of computerization. This Center supports research in Social Informatics.
DLIST, the Digital Library of Information Science and Technology -- A collaborative project between the University of Arizona School of Information Resources and Library Science and the Arizona Health Sciences Library, DLIST aspires to be a Web-accessible, open, digital repository for Library and Information Science and Information Technology, a virtual intellectual commons for LIS and IT. Includes articles and conference papers, but also information literacy instruction materials, staff training guides, pathfinders, bibliographies and database guides.
Electronic Sources of Information: A Bibliography -- Deals with all aspects of electronic publishing and includes print and non-print materials, periodical articles, monographs and individual chapters in collected works. Over 1,000 items were identified and indexed in great detail for this project. Thousands of URLs (Uniform Resource Locators) were added to various entries. Both the Index and the Bibliography are continuously updated. The Electronic Sources of Information is accompanied by the Subject Index to Literature on Electronic Resources.

Information Literacy on the WWW -- From Florida International University Libraries, a comprehensive resource for information on library efforts for information literacy.
Internet Library of Early Journals -- ILEF, the 'Internet Library of Early Journals' is a joint project by the Universities of Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Oxford, conducted under the auspices of the eLib (Electronic Libraries) Programme. It aims to digitise substantial runs of 18th and 19th century journals, and make these images available on the Internet, together with their associated bibliographic data.
Keeping Up -- From Steven Bell, a great Website for librarians and other information professionals, with sites divided into categories. According to Bell, "A central, guiding premise of this web site is that academic librarians and technology professionals must go beyond the constraints of their own literature to really keep up and maintain their myriad skills and diversified knowledge base," so many of the sites listed do not really directly relate to the field of library science.
