ERIC -- The ERIC database, produced by the Education Resources Information Center, provides access to more than a million citations and abstracts of articles published in over 700 educational journals and thousands of reports, on such topics as adult and vocational education; teacher education; reading and communication skills; disabled and gifted children; tests, measurement, and evaluation; and higher education. The ERIC database indexes articles and reports dated 1966 to the present. The ISU Library subscribes to most of the journals indexed by ERIC, and maintains a microfiche file of all indexed reports up to August 2004. Access to ERIC is provided through a variety of interfaces, each with its own features and capabilities. The ERIC database can be searched, and copies of ED reports indexed since 1993 obtained through the following:
Education Abstracts -- Education Abstracts, produced by H. W. Wilson
Company, provides access to more than 400 English-language periodicals and
yearbooks in the field of education and related areas. Indexed articles are
dated 1983 to the present. It is available via the OCLC FirstSearch service and
can be accessed only through an OCLC Web interface.

Professional Development Collection – Professional Development Collection
provides indexing and abstracts for over 700 journals dating back to 1965,
including 550 education journals, 350 of which are peer-reviewed as well as more
than 200 educational reports. It is available via the EBSCOhost service.

Electronic Journals
The University Library subscribes to over 29,000 journals in all formats that
can be located by searching in the Library catalog and in the
e-Journals &
e-Books page on the Library's homepage. Some of the journals listed in the
Library catalog are available in electronic format as well as in print and
microform. The records for titles that are available electronically will have a
link to the web page of the journal. Electronic journals that the library
subscribes to are also listed on the
e-Journals & e-Books page. These titles may
or may not be listed in the Library catalog, so both sources should be checked
when seeking a particular journal issue. You can gain access to electronic
journals from any university computer on the ISU campus, but you must be a
member of the ISU Community to access electronic journals from off campus. You
will need your ISU Card number as well as a Library pin number when using
electronic journals off campus.
Reference Resources
Board of Regents, State of Iowa -- The Board of Regents, State of Iowa web site contains information about the work of the Board including its members, staff, publications, policies, strategic plan, institutions and links to other important web sites concerning higher education.
Educator's Reference Desk -- Contains selected resources for education and general interest including lesson plans, access to ERIC database and digests, question and answering service, and archives of education-related listservs.
World Lecture Hall -- The World Lecture Hall (WLH) contains links to pages created by faculty worldwide who are using the Web to deliver class materials. For example, you will find course syllabi, assignments, lecture notes, exams, class calendars, multimedia textbooks, etc.
