Indexes simply list citations of journal articles (and sometimes conference papers and other items). Use of an electronic index allows you to search hundreds of journals at one time enabling precise retrieval of articles published on a particular subject.
Indexes marked with an asterisk(*) may be searched simultaneously. Click on one of the databases and wait for it to appear on the screen. Click on the "Change Databases" at the top left corner. Select the databases you would like to search from the "Database Menu." Click on the "Start Searching" button, at the top left corner. Then click on the "Search History" button and click on the "Rerun" link.

Biosis Previews -- Covers virtually every life science discipline: agriculture, biochemistry, biotechnology, botany, ecology, immunology, microbiology, neuroscience, pharmacology, public health, and toxicology.
AGRICOLA* -- Produced by the National Agricultural Library (NAL). Citations and abstracts in agricultural economics, animal culture and welfare, biotechnology, human ecology, soil science, and veterinary medicine.
AGRIS* -- FAO database of agricultural literature. Provides citations and abstracts dealing with agricultural science and technology worldwide.
Dissertations & Theses (ProQuest) - Provides access to abstracts and information about United States and selected foreign dissertations published since 1861.
Web of Science -- Can be accessed through ISI Web of Knowledge. Provides Science Citation Index Expanded. Covers journals on all science topics, and provides the option for multidisciplinary searching in social sciences and humanities.
CARIS (Current Agricultural Research Information System) -- Created by FAO in 1975 to identify and to facilitate the exchange of information about current agricultural research projects being carried out in, or on behalf of, developing countries. The basic unit in CARIS is a set of data describing a single project, giving such details as the project title, objectives, inception and termination dates; names of researchers and their specializations, contact addresses of individuals and institutes carrying out the research. .
CRIS: Current Research Information System -- is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) documentation and reporting system for ongoing and recently completed research projects in agriculture, food and nutrition, and forestry. Projects are conducted or sponsored by USDA research agencies, state agricultural experiment stations, the state land-grant university system, other cooperating state institutions, and participants in USDA's National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program..
Food Science and Technology Abstracts -- Provides access to citations and abstracts dealing with all human food commodities and food processing (except for the production of raw food). Topics covered include microbiology, toxicology and hygiene, economics and statistics, engineering, packaging, and many food products. FSTA indexes articles, patents, standards, books, conference proceedings, research reports, dissertations, and legislation dated 1969 to the present.
Plant Management Network -- Offers an extensive searchable database comprised of thousands of web-based resource information from journals, fact sheets, newsletters, training resources, etc. supplied by the network's partner universities, companies, and associations.
