Indexes simply list citations of journal articles (and sometimes conference papers and other items ). Use of an electronic index allows you to search hundreds of journals at one time enabling precise retrieval of articles published on a particular subject.
Those indexes marked with an asterisk(*) may be searched simultaneously. Click on one of the databases and wait for it to appear on the screen. Click on the Change button next to View database being searched Select the databases you would like to search from the list of available databases. AGRICOLA*- Produced by the National Agricultural Library (NAL). Citations and abstracts in agricultural economics, animal culture and welfare, biotechnology, human ecology, soil science, and veterinary medicine.
AGRIS* - FAO database of agricultural literature. Provides citations and abstracts dealing with agricultural science and technology worldwide.
Biosis Previews* - Covers virtually every life science discipline: agriculture, biochemistry, biotechnology, botany, ecology, immunology, microbiology, neuroscience, pharmacology, public health, and toxicology.
CAB Abstracts* (ISU only) - Citations and abstracts of the international agricultural literature, including plant protection, forestry engineering, animal husbandry, animal and plant breeding, genetics, veterinary medicine, nutrition, rural development, economics, and leisure and tourism.
Dissertation Abstracts (ProQuest Digital Dissertations) (ISU only) - Provides access to abstracts and information about United States and selected foreign dissertations published since 1861.
EBSCOHost Acdemic Search Elite - Can also access ERIC, Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, Health Sources - Consumer Edition, MasterFILE Premier, Newspaper Source, Professional Development Collection, Regional Business news, TOPICsearch and Vocational and Career Collection
ERIC - Adult and vocational education; teacher education; reading and communication skills; disabled and gifted children; tests, measurement, and evaluation; and higher education are among the topics covered. Provides access to more than a million citations and abstracts of articles published in over 700 educational journals and thousands of reports. ISU Library subscribes to most of the journals indexed by ERIC, and maintains a microfiche file of all indexed reports up to August 2004. Coverage - 1966 to present.
PsycINFO - Provides access to international literature in psychology and related disciplines, such as psychiatry, education, business, medicine, nursing, pharmacology, law, linguistics, and social work. Coverage - 1806 to present. Updated weekly.
