Powder Diffraction File (PDF-4+)

The Powder Diffraction File (PDF) is a collection of single phase X-ray powder diffraction patterns, maintained and distributed by the International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD). The data for each pattern are presented in the form of table of characteristic interplanar spacings and corresponding relative intensities. Miller indices and other supplemental data, such as crystal system, density, or cell information, are also included when known.

PDF-4+ (2007) has comprehensive material coverage for inorganic materials as well as coverage of minerals and common organic materials. Each dataset contains diffraction, crystallographic and bibliographic data, as well as experimental, instrument and sampling conditions and select physical properties in a common standardized format.

The 2007 release contains more than 240,050 entries and citations to nearly 272,000 references from more than 2,000 journals.

This database is available in the Reference Area at Parks Library in Room 188B.
Check with staff at the Reference Desk for more information.
