The Ellis and Messina database consists of the taxonomic titles in the Foraminifera, Ostracoda, and Diatom catalogues. Complete type-descriptions for genus- and species-level taxa, including varieties and forms, with original illustrations, charts, and verbatim diagnoses.

To search the catalogues, click on Login to Ellis & Messina from either this page or the Ellis and Messina Catalogues page. You can choose either the Foraminifera or the Ostracoda database from the drop-down menu. The library does not currently subscribe to the Diatom database.
