Academic Search Elite provides coverage of a wide range of academic topics including business, education, medicine, psychology, science, social sciences, and technology. The database also covers current news and topics of more general interest. It indexes more than 3400 titles and provides full-text for about 2,000, of which 1,500 are peer-reviewed. Index coverage is from 1975-present. Full-text coverage is from 1985-present. (Note: Not all periodicals are covered for all years).
Audience:
Academic Search Elite is especially useful to undergraduates who are looking for information for reports, term papers, or speeches. Its coverage of all topic areas makes it a good place to find quick information for all users. This product complements Expanded Academic ASAP which covers the same areas. There is some duplication of publications between the two databases but each also has its own unique set of publications.
Coverage:
Humanities journals (topics related to language and literature, religion, philosophy)
Science and technology journals (topics related to biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, physics)
Social science journals (topics related to economics, education, history, psychology, sociology)
National news periodicals (Newsweek, Time, U.S. News & World Report)
General interest magazines (Atlantic Monthly, Essence, Good Housekeeping, People)
The New York Times (indexed only)
Access:
Academic Search Elite is available on or off campus (to those with a valid ISU ID card).
