Off Campus Access to Selected Databases

Note: If you use this off-campus access procedure, your ISUCard number or Extramural Borrower's Card patron id number will be passed through the Internet in plaintext. It is possible that it could be intercepted by some person other than ISU personnel.

Some of the Bibliographic, Statistical and Full Text databases available through the web interface are licensed for use by members of the Iowa State University community.

We have recently implemented a method allowing off-campus access to these licensed databases. Users at on-campus locations will continue to access the databases directly by virtue of their network address. Off-campus users will be prompted for a username and password by their browser software (Netscape, Mosaic, Lynx, etc.).

If you are prompted for a username and password, enter the 11 digits from your ISUCard starting after the 600957 sequence. Or enter the patron identification number from your Extramural Borrower's Card. Enter either of these numbers in the username field and leave the password field empty.
