Library 160 instructors want you to know that WebCT software keeps a
record of each student’s activities while they are logged in to
WebCT. This means your instructor can see whether or not you have logged
in to your Library 160 WebCT materials, which pages or features you have
used or not used, how many messages you have sent or read, and so on.
In your Library 160 WebCT course pages, you can keep track of your own
progress
through this feature,
called “Course Progress.” During your years at ISU, you
may have other courses in WebCT besides Library 160 – you should
know WebCT instructors always have access to these data, whether or not
the feature is made available to students
in the course.
Here are some WebCT guidelines students are expected to follow when
participating in Library 160.
Using the Discussion Board
WebCT Discussion Board will be used for questions you may have about
the Library 160 course, such as content or concepts covered, course mechanics,
necessary clarification, and so on. Messages you send to the Discussion
Board will be permanently retained throughout the semester within WebCT
as part of the course record, and can be read by everyone – instructor
and students - in your section. Above all, it is intended as a means
for you to communicate with your instructor and for class discussion.
We do have a few policies on Discussion Board language and use. As with
any other academic classroom discussion, discussion and e-mail messages
in WebCT will be civil and respectful. Offensive, racist or sexist language
has no place within this course.
Students should refrain from seeking assignment or exam answers from
other students, as well as refrain from supplying other students with
answers from graded assignments or exam questions. Please be aware that
this is a form of Academic Dishonesty with serious consequences than
can affect not only your Library 160 grade but also your student standing
at ISU. Please see the ISU
Student Handbook for more information.
Communicating through WebCT Mail
Please use "Mail Instructor" in WebCT to contact your instructor
privately about questions you may have about the Library 160 course.
This may include questions about your individual progress, your grade,
concerns you may have about the course, and any feedback you may wish
to provide.
Academic Honesty
All assignments and exams you complete for Library 160 must represent
your own work. See the ISU
Student Handbook for any questions regarding copying answers from
another student, students giving or selling answers to other students,
plagiarism, misrepresentation, and all other forms of academic dishonesty.
Bottom line: do your own work, don’t supply others with answers
from graded assignments, and don’t represent someone else’s
work as your own.
Students with Disabilities:
If you have a documented disability that
may affect your ability to participate fully
in the course or if you require special accommodations,
please contact Disability Resources Office,
1076 Student Services Bldg.,
294-6624. Working with the Disability
Resources Office is the University's approved
procedure for receiving accommodations. Use
of accommodations in the classroom or in
testing situations will remain confidential.
